But why?
As Junior students my class spends a great deal of time learning about diseases, disorders and conditions. Mostly about how to identify them. Students are generally not wanting to learn those things but wish to jump right in to doing hair. But, first they must learn how to protect themselves from anything that may pop up in their work world that would keep them from being able to work later. If they give a service to someone with ringworm for example and they then get one they can't work until it is taken care of. That could cost both a great deal of time (away from work) and money (for the doctor's bills). My goal in class is to teach them how to protect themselves. I fully understand that it is frustrating for some folks to learn this stuff, all the fancy technical words and horrible photographs of yucky stuff. But it is very important at the same time. Patience folks patience. We will get to foiling and haircutting soon.
