Hyponychium
The skin that lies underneath the free edge of the nail. Ever turn off the light switch and pull your nail backwards? Makes you act REALLY HYPER for a bit doesn't it? Well that's because you just pulled the nail away from your pyponychium. We need to be really careful while cleaning under a clients free edge to ensure we don't press too hard and go into this sensitive area. It isn't supposed to hurt to get a manicure.
