Absence makes the mind go wander

Today was a hard day for me. The weather has turned into summer and I really thought being outside was a better idea than being in class. I tried not to show it though. The students worked on skills needed for their mini-board test and for the most part they did a fantastic job at it. The new students are coming along really great. There are a few students who miss a lot and then they have a difficult time catching up with the group. I don't have the time to spend one on one with them so it can get frustrating for everyone. I don't mean to be mean but a student needs to show up often and study when they are away or they will loose any skills they have started on. A newly learned skill has to be practiced or it doesn't stick. I hope my stragglers start attending more frequently. I really do.
