Looking for work
When a student is about 3/4 of the way through beauty school they need to spend some time thinking about where they will go to work. First you need to think of what type of work you wish to do. Are you wanting to concentrate on hair cuts? Do you prefer to color and foil? Or are you more the make-up -eyelash sort? Decide if you wish to concentrate on one small area or if you want to work in a full service salon doing a bit of everything. Then make a list of the salons that offer these services in your area. Check out a few places by being a customer. Get a simple service and see how the staff works as a team. Remember you are looking for a place where you can fit in and be part of a team. Ask questions and tell them why you are asking. Be up front with the fact that you are nearing the end of your schooling and are looking for a place to grow and develop your skills. Don't wait until you are out of school and sitting home wondering what to do next. Get out there. Show yourself off. Talk to people. Tell them when you will be available and what your abilities are. Be upfront and be honest. You are more desirable as a new hire at graduation than you ever will be again. This is your time to sparkle!
