Silly Students

So, I have several really fun students. I mean totally fun. They are grown women who act grown, but also are having a great time learning cosmetology and enjoying life.

We really get to business early in the morning. The day starts at 8 sharp and by 8:15 I have them all working (hard) on something. Depending on the day it could be a practical or some theory that is giving them issues. Later on we all work together on things but early morning and near the end of the day we usually work on individual needs.

The late in the day work is my favorite time. Students comment on what they learned that day, and chat like long time friends. Most importantly (I think) we all unwind somewhat and talk about what is real in life. Their future, their goals, their likes and dislikes. I also usually allow personals to be done at the end of the day... so they are enjoying getting all prettied up. Seems to me if one goes to beauty school they should look beautiful.

I have this one student. I swear her Daddy or SOMEONE told her she was a princess! She is so self assured and full of confidence and poise. She is young, gorgeous, smart and totally KNOWS it yet is not at all a snob. A total joy to be around. Don't anyone tell her I said so, but she really brightens the day with her winning attitude. The entire group that stays late is delightful actually. From the Momma with the right leg dance (inside joke sorry), the Mean Momma with three boys, the pregnant one that is SO touchy to the silly dilly with the dollar store background! The past few weeks I have really enjoyed these students. They are all preparing to test out of my room soon. I tell them I won't miss them, but this group I am more trying to convince myself more than them. Have I told you all lately how much I love my job?
