New starts and hair cutting

Rumor has it that I am getting a lot of new students this month. I think that is wonderful. It is spring. Times are difficult and folks need to make plans for their futures.

Class size varies from month to month for the Juniors. Depending on attendance students spend between 14 and 22 weeks in the Junior room. Right now I have mostly newish students which is challenging when no one in the room has even begun to master the techniques I am teaching yet. But the excitement is great when things do "click" in.

I am teaching beginning hair cutting this week. One student has been "doing hair" for over ten years and tells me she can "cut some hair" so now that I am showing her the hows and whys she is really struggling. She's a smart cookie though and she will get it. Watching her face as she progressed the other day was delightful. He eyes are so expressive and the joy was right there for all to see. It reminded me why I teach. It was a good time.
